DENVER -- Two boys found a dead body stuffed in a suitcase Friday near a park in Denver, the Denver Post reported Saturday.

The two boys were looking metal to recycle near Ruby Hill Park in Denver when one, aged 13, saw a leg sticking out of a suitcase that was "halfway buried and halfway open but covered with dirt and grass" in a field across the street from the park at around 1:15pm local time Friday.

When the boys opened the case, they found what appeared to be the dead body of a man.

The two boys told several friends, who went to see the body, before alerting nearby public workers who called police.

Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson confirmed that a partly buried body had been found in the field. Police were working to determine how the body got there, and homicide detectives were called to the scene.
